Peterseim celebrates 60-year company anniversary

Last Friday, the company Peterseim GmbH & Co. KG Metallwerke celebrated its 60-year anniversary with a select group of people on the MS Westfalen. Current and former employees and their partners had been invited onto the ship belonging to the ‘White Fleet’ of the Biggesee to mark this special event in an appropriate setting.
The party with its cruise-style atmosphere started at 18.30 and, until the sun went down, the entire staff of the family business sailed across the beautiful Biggesee. But even after the MS Westfalen had to berth because the sun had set, exuberant celebrations continued on the ship until the early hours of the morning.
At the start of the evening, managing partner Silke Peterseim-Sallen gave a very warm welcome to all the guests on behalf of the whole owning family. In a brief summary she listed the numerous investments and modernisations of the past few years. Over ten million euros had been invested in technical advances at PETERSEIM in the last ten years, for example wire-drawing machines, metal-cutting machines, fixed sawing machines and testing equipment. “Environmental protection is also very important to us and we take very active steps towards it here,” emphasised Silke Peterseim-Sallen. In 2012, for example, they put their own combined heat and power unit into operation, which now supplies the whole company with energy in an environmentally friendly way. More than 30% of primary energy is saved. This means considerably fewer oxides of nitrogen and considerably less carbon dioxide; in this way Peterseim is making its contribution to reducing global greenhouse gases.
This year, environmentally compatible energy generation was developed further. Most recently, a photovoltaic system was installed on the roof of the Production department, so that energy generation can take place whilst showing concern for environmental protection. The first in-house environmentally friendly electricity has already been generated. There will be an annual CO2 reduction of 80 tonnes.
A review of the last ten years, however, also had to cover the years of the global economic crisis. Silke Peterseim-Sallen thanked the staff for their support and willingness to help: “Thanks to you, your motivation and your loyalty, PETERSEIM is one of the companies that have survived the crisis.” Having emerged, strengthened, from this crisis, the company is now continuing to look into the future optimistically thanks to the latest technology, advanced machines and motivated staff. “We are grateful for the dedication and everyday willingness to work demonstrated by our employees,” emphasised the managing director. Anyhow, it became clear on this evening that, at Peterseim, everyone is in the same boatDSC_2961_s.

Peterseim invests in green energy production using a block heat and power plant

The climate is subject to alarming change around the world. Floods, mudslides, melting glaciers and dropping groundwater levels are just some of the problems that mankind is facing today. Environmental protection concerns us all and any contribution towards reducing damaging greenhouse gas emissions is a step into the right direction. When you stop and consider that world energy consumption has doubled since 1970, you will realise that the time has come to change the way we think and act. Energy efficiency is a must if we want the environment to remain habitable for future generations.
