Peterseim Cup raises 1,000 Euros for Lebenshilfe Kreis Olpe

The district sports hall in Olpe hosted a heated soccer tournament on Saturday, when
teams from well-known regional companies competed against each other in a charity cham-pionship for the Peterseim Cup trophy. All the proceeds from the soccer tournament will be donated to Lebenshilfe Kreis Olpe, which is in great need of a new handicapped accessible minibus.

The Peterseim Cup kicked off at lunchtime, and the teams couldn’t wait to get to the pitch and beat their competitors.

The matches were thrilling to the very end. The Krombach brewery team played against Modellbau Hochstein for third place. After a decisive penalty, the Krombach team outper-formed its competition, winning third place. In the finals, the Ohm + Häner teams faced the Peterseim team. Until five minutes before the match ended, Peterseim was leading 1 to 0. However, in the final drives of the game, the Ohm + Häner guys decided the match, for an exciting 2 to 1 win.

Although there was no women’s teams on the pitch, Peterseim’s female employees kept busy on the sidelines. They took care of catering for the athletes and guests, earning 500 Euros from the sale of coffee, cakes, drinks, sausages and sandwiches. The manage-ment of Peterseim GmbH & Co. KG Metallwerke matched this sum for a total of 1,000 Euros.

“The Lebenshilfe organisation is a role model for its work and is worth supporting,” said Silke Peterseim-Sallen, a partner in Peterseim. The organisation helps people who are mentally disabled to live as independently as possible. Villa Müller is a well-known example of Le-benshilfe’s work in the Olpe district. Its residents are cared for by qualified staff, and Lebenshilfe employees cater to the individual requirements of each resident. Besides Villa Müller, Lebenshilfe operates three other group homes in the Olpe district. Furthermore, a number of individuals and flat-sharing communities in this region receive Lebenshilfe’s sup-port in their daily activities.

For this effort, the members of the corporate teams mobilized all their forces and are happy that together with their families, friends and colleagues, they have helped Lebenshilfe get one step closer to purchasing the minibus. Klaus Schmock, the highly committed coach of Peterseim GmbH & Co. KG Metallwerke’s corporate team, will organise next year’s Pe-terseim Cup with the support of management and many colleagues.
