Production and advantages of our seamless drawn tubes
The origin of our seamless drawn tubes lies in the extrusion process, in which a red-hot billet of high-quality brass or aluminum is pressed through a hydraulic press. This process results in a thick-walled tube with impressive properties. In further production at Peterseim, these pressed tubes are subjected to a sophisticated cold forming process that uses specific lubricants to enable precise adjustment to the desired diameter, wall thickness, material strength and surface properties.
The drawing machines play a central role in this process. These use tool sets consisting of dies and drawing mandrels to shape the outer and inner dimensions of the tubes. This process is continued through repeated passes and, if necessary, thermal treatments at temperatures of around 500° until the desired dimensions and strength are achieved. The quality of the tube surface improves with each drawing process, and seamless drawing enables the production of round or profiled tubes in almost any conceivable geometric shape.
After drawing, the tubes go through a cleaning phase, during which lubricants are removed, and are then cut to the desired length. Each intermediate step is checked in a process-optimized manner before the tubes are released for further processing, finishing or delivery.
The advantages of seamless tube production are obvious. In contrast to welded pipes, our seamless drawn pipes have no weak points due to weld seams. This proves to be a particular advantage when the pipes have to withstand high pressure or undergo further processing, such as bending. Seamless production also allows almost unlimited possibilities in terms of pipe diameters and wall thicknesses. This flexibility ranges from the production of very small quantities to efficient large-scale production, making our seamless drawn tubes a versatile and extremely efficient solution for various applications.
